Scouts try to have as much fun as possible while learning new skills, developing ourselves and enjoying the adventure!
Scouts is for young people aged from about 10 and a half to 14. Troops are organised into groups called Patrols, each of between 4 and 6 young people led by a Patrol Leader who is one of the Scouts.
We aim to cover a wide range of fun activities in order to help them to find out about the world in which they live, encourage them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and help develop their creative talents.
The Scouting year revolves around a balanced programme, which is made up of various challenges:
- Personal
- Outdoor
- Adventure
- Global
- Creative
- Expedition
- Skills
- Teamwork
- Team Leader
- World
- Chief Scout Gold Award
We try to do as much of this outside as possible, especially during the summer months. We go camping as often as possible and each year this includes Gilwell Winter Camp (in January!), a Spring camp, a walking weekend and a Summer Camp. In addition we offer sailing weekends, survival and bushcraft experiences and competitions with Scouts from all over Hertfordshire.
