The 16th St Albans Scout Group was formed in 1953. It started off meeting in St Paul’s Church and then moved into the current hut (known as the Wilcox Hut) in 1969.
The group has grown into one of the biggest (and we believe, the best!) Scout Groups in St Albans and it currently has 3 Beaver Colonies, 2 Cub Packs and 2 Scout Troops. The Oakdene Explorers and the 2nd St Albans Scout Group also meet at the hut and we share some of our equipment and resources.
Any young person who joins our Group is guaranteed a varied programme of activities run by dedicated leaders. Friendship, fun and adventure are what we are about!
We rarely have spaces in Cubs or Scouts for young people as most children start in Beavers and progress automatically through Cubs and Scouts. However, we are always on the look out for adult helpers and we give priority to their children.
